The Directorate of University Advancement represents the University at the 34th Annual EAIE Conference

The University of Nairobi, represented by Prof.Marc Zolver, Mr. Keneth Sawe, Mr. Shadrack Mutavi, and Ms. Lynet Kioko, is delighted to have participated in the 34th Annual EAIE Conference (European Association for International Education), held from 17th to 20th September 2024 in Toulouse, France.

University Holds 2nd Edition of the Company Series Circuit

The Directorate of University Advancement and Institutional Development successfully hosted the second edition of the Company Series Interactive Day at the Main Campus on Friday, September 6, 2024. This event, part of the AFRETEC Network Pillar “Bridge Program,” aims to foster meaningful connections between industry professionals, students, and faculty members. The initiative seeks to bridge the often wide gap between academic life and the evolving demands of the professional world.

UoN Faculty Trained on Design Thinking and Problem-Based Learning under the AFRETEC Network

The C4DLab hosted a week-long training program for faculty on Design Thinking, an innovative problem-solving approach. Aptly named “Innovation Training,” the program, which ran from 2nd-6th September 2024, aimed to equip educators with tools to foster creativity and critical thinking.
 

Hosted in the PhD room of the Department of Computing and Informatics, the training attracted participants from various faculties within the University of Nairobi.
 

First Group of Students Flagged off to France Under the Engineering and Science Complex Project

The University of Nairobi has proudly flagged off three outstanding students from the Faculty of Engineering who will be traveling to France for a five-month exchange program. The selected students are Mwawasi Elizabeth and Sandra Arunga, who have been admitted to Ècole des Ponts ParisTech to pursue a program in Sustainable and Green Engineering, and Anne Makhanu, who has been admitted to CentraleSupèlec to participate in the 2nd Year Fall Semester Engineering Mobility Program, where she will work on a research project focused on “Energy Efficiency of 5G IoT Networks.”

French Development Agency Visits University of Nairobi to Discuss New Engineering and Science Complex

On Tuesday, June 11, 2024, the French Development Agency (AFD) paid a courtesy call to Vice Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama during their two-day education mission at the University of Nairobi. The primary focus of the visit was the forthcoming Engineering and Science Complex, a significant project born from a joint initiative between the Kenyan and French governments and ratified at the presidential level.

UoN Makes Strides in Academia-Industry Linkages Through AFRETEC Network

The University of Nairobi hosted the African Engineering and Technology (AFRETEC) Network workshop focused on Academia-Industry collaboration for synergistic experiential learning, knowledge creation, innovation and entrepreneurship. The workshop was possible through the Directorate of University Advancement and Institutional Development and was held on the 9th and 10th of May 2024.

France Alumni in Kenya Launched

The French embassy held a cocktail to mark the official launching of the France Alumni in Kenya on April 6, 2024. The event brought together representatives from both public and private universities, the Association of France Alumni in Kenya (AFRAKEN), Kenyan companies and the French Chamber of Commerce. The highlight of the meeting were the speeches from the French Ambassador to Kenya H.E. Arnaud Suquet and Stéphane Séjourné the French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

ICCA and DUAID Open Inaugural Edition of the African Summer School on Climate Change Adaptation

The Institute for Climate Change and Adaptation (ICCA) and the University Advancement & Institutional Development have opened the first edition of the African Summer School on Climate Change and Adaptation for undergraduate/Bachelor’s students in Science, Technology, and Engineering, who have completed a minimum of two (2) years. The School will run from July 1-12, 2024 at the Chiromo Campus, University of Nairobi (Kenya).

Continued Partnership with University of Rwanda to boost Knowledge Creation and Technology Infrastructure

The University of Rwanda will continue working with the University of Nairobi through the African Engineering and Technology Network (AFRETEC) to build strong knowledge creation and technological infrastructure and provide a platform to engage in deep collaboration that drives inclusive digital growth in Africa.

The Directorate of University Advancement Hosts the Catholic University of Murcia

The Directorate of University Advancement & Institutional Development hosted the Catholic University of Murcia (UCAM) represented by the Head of International Marketing and Student Recruitment Ms. Millicent Aynanda.

Ms Anyanda was on a week-long benchmarking visit at the University of Nairobi. During her visit, Ms Anyanda paid courtesy calls to the Academics and Admissions Division, the Dean of Students and Career Services Office, the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies, UNC-TV studios and the Directorate of Corporate Affairs.
