The University of Nairobi’s Directorate of University Advancement and Institutional Development has been recognized for its outstanding efforts in resource mobilization. The directorate played a pivotal role in securing key funding and establishing initiatives aimed at advancing the university’s mission. The Directorate was honoured at the Annual Staff Recognition Awards 2025, held on January 10, 2025, at the University of Nairobi, Chandaria Auditorium.
A notable achievement highlighted in the award was the successful acquisition of a grant from the French Government to construct the state-of-the-art Engineering and Science Complex (ESC) at the university. This landmark project is set to enhance research, innovation and industrial-academic linkages in engineering and science disciplines, reinforcing the university’s commitment to academic excellence.
Additionally, the directorate was lauded for spearheading the establishment of the University of Nairobi Foundation, a strategic initiative designed to mobilize resources in support of financially disadvantaged students. This foundation ensures that deserving students receive the necessary financial aid to pursue their studies, promoting inclusivity and equal opportunities in higher education.
The award was presented by the University of Nairobi Vice Chancellor, Prof. Margaret Hutchinson, and was accepted on behalf of the directorate by Mr. Brian Ouma, the Director of University Advancement and Institutional Development.
The recognition underscores the University of Nairobi’s strategic approach to resource mobilization and its unwavering commitment to fostering a world-class learning environment.
