ESC Project Accelerates Policy and Digital Innovation at Naivasha Workshop

The Engineering and Science Complex (ESC) Project marked a major milestone in its policy and systems development journey through two back-to-back workshops held in Naivasha from 17 to 18 July 2025. The sessions brought together interdisciplinary teams under the key ESC pillars to co-develop policy frameworks and digital transformation roadmaps aimed at strengthening the project's implementation and long-term sustainability.

African School on Climate Change and Adaptation (2nd Edition)

The University of Nairobi, through the Institute for Climate Change and Adaptation (ICCA), successfully hosted the second edition of the African School on Climate Change and Adaptation from June 30 to July 11, 2025. The two-week program brought together 27 participants from Kenya, across Africa, and international universities, fostering interdisciplinary learning on climate resilience, sustainability, and adaptation.

University of Nairobi and DTU Host Strategic Workshop to Advance Innovation Partnership

The University of Nairobi  (UoN) and the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) held a strategic partnership workshop from July 1–3, 2025, aimed at deepening collaboration in research, innovation, and curriculum co-creation. The three-day program, hosted at the University of Nairobi Towers, brought together academic leaders, innovation experts, and institutional leaders to explore new pathways for impactful collaboration.

The directorate played a pivotal role in securing key funding and establishing initiatives aimed at advancing the university’s mission. The Directorate was honoured at the Annual Staff Recognition Awards 2025, held on January 10, 2025, at the University of Nairobi, Chandaria Auditorium.

Africa Adaptation Acceleration Program (AAAP) Drives Climate Adaptation at Changemakers School 2024

The Africa Adaptation Acceleration Program (AAAP), a strategic partnership among the African Development Bank, the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA), and the University of Nairobi, concluded a transformative session at the second Changemakers School in the Netherlands. From October 14-18, Campus Fryslân at the University of Groningen hosted a diverse cohort of climate adaptation advocates from around the world, offering them an immersive experience designed to develop skills, exchange knowledge, and inspire innovative climate solutions.

University Holds 2nd Edition of the Company Series Circuit

The Directorate of University Advancement and Institutional Development successfully hosted the second edition of the Company Series Interactive Day at the Main Campus on Friday, September 6, 2024. This event, part of the AFRETEC Network Pillar “Bridge Program,” aims to foster meaningful connections between industry professionals, students, and faculty members. The initiative seeks to bridge the often wide gap between academic life and the evolving demands of the professional world.

UoN Faculty Trained on Design Thinking and Problem-Based Learning under the AFRETEC Network

The C4DLab hosted a week-long training program for faculty on Design Thinking, an innovative problem-solving approach. Aptly named “Innovation Training,” the program, which ran from 2nd-6th September 2024, aimed to equip educators with tools to foster creativity and critical thinking.
 

Hosted in the PhD room of the Department of Computing and Informatics, the training attracted participants from various faculties within the University of Nairobi.
