The Directorate of University Advancement and Institutional Development successfully hosted the second edition of the Company Series Interactive Day at the Main Campus on Friday, September 6, 2024. This event, part of the AFRETEC Network Pillar “Bridge Program,” aims to foster meaningful connections between industry professionals, students, and faculty members. The initiative seeks to bridge the often wide gap between academic life and the evolving demands of the professional world.
During the event, students had the opportunity to engage closely with industry experts from various fields. These interactions provided invaluable insights into key skills and competencies that employers seek in today's competitive job market. The forum allowed students to ask questions, participate in discussions, and gain a clearer understanding of the workplace environment.
Keynote speakers from sectors such as finance, technology, healthcare, and manufacturing shared their expertise and discussed emerging trends. They emphasized the importance of adaptability, digital literacy, and emotional intelligence as essential skills in today’s workplace. Several workshops were held, focusing on resume building, interview techniques, and networking strategies, giving students hands-on tools to prepare for their careers.
Mr Brian Ouma, the Chief Operations Officer and the Director of University Advancement highlighted the importance of initiatives like the Company Series Interactive Day. "We recognize that academic knowledge alone is no longer sufficient in today’s dynamic work environment. The Bridge Program is designed to ensure that our students graduate not just with degrees, but with the skills, insights, and professional networks necessary for success," he said.
Students expressed appreciation for the opportunity, with many noting how the event helped them gain a clearer understanding of the professional landscape and feel more confident about their career paths.
The success of the second edition of the Company Series Interactive Day signals the university’s ongoing commitment to equipping its students with the tools they need to succeed beyond the classroom, setting them up for long-term success in their careers.
